A 51-year-old Hoodsport woman faces charges after leading police on a pursuit that started in Mason County and ended in Lewis County.
The Washington State Patrol says the woman fed after Mason County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop. She entered Thurston County where Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies initiated pursuit. Troopers took over as the Hoodsport woman traveled southbound on Interstate 5.
At milepost 71 in Lewis County, spike strips were deployed successfully but the vehicle continued for about two more miles before leaving the highway to the right and striking a sign. The car returned to the roadway and came to a stop blocking two lanes of I-5.
The woman then refused to exit the car, so WSP SWAT was called to the scene. After about five hours, the Hoodsport woman was taken into custody and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.
She faces several charges including Felony Eluding, Reckless Driving, Hit and Run, and Resisting Arrest. A press memo also indicates drug or alcohol were involved.
The investigation is ongoing with the State Patrol as lead agency.
