Win for SHS Softball; NM Track & Field Results
The Shelton fastpitch softball team handed Aberdeen it’s first loss of the season Thursday as the Highclimbers beat the Bobcats 2 to 1.

Aberdeen got on the board in the first inning but Shelton’s Hailey Schuffenhauer hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to give the Highclimbers the lead: Cassandra Tyler led off the inning with a single. Schuffenhauer followed with the shot to center field.
Shelton’s defense helped secure the Evergreen Conference win and only allowed seven base runners in the game – only one after taking the lead.
The Highclimbers had seven hits: Riley Rowland was 2 for 3. Schuffenhauer (the home run), Tyler, Abi Fauula, Lexi Rowland, and Jonni Gouley accounted for the other Shelton hits.
Gouley pitched seven innings for the Highclimbers and allowed one run on seven hits with NO walks and two strikeouts.
Shelton has won four straight and now has 7-and-3 overall record, 3-and-2 in EVCO play. The Highclimbers travel to Black Hills Friday.
North Mason’s track and field teams competed in an Olympic League meet Thursday at Port Angles. The Lady Bulldogs top the girls’ team scoring while the boys from Belfair finished 3rd.
Top NM finishers:
Kaito Watson won the boys’ 110-meter hurdles and won the 300-meter hurdles.
Brylie Biehl won the girls’ 100 meters and was 2nd in the 200 meters
Alisha Carpenter won the girls’ 1600 meters.
Audrey Petersen won the girls’ shot put and was 5th in the discus.
Samantha Neil won the girls’ pole vault.
Derek Dunham won the boys’ shot put and was 5th in the 100 meters.
Owen Kukesheir won the boys’ javelin, was 3rd in the discus, and 4th in the shot put.
The relay team of Addisen Sheridan, Natalie Wolf, Melandra Steiger & Brylie Biehl won the girls’ 4 x 200.
Baylee Jones was 2nd in the girls’ long jump, 3rd in the javelin, and 4th in the triple jump.
Melandra Steiger took 2nd in the girls’ high jump.
Grady Porter placed 2nd in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles.
Palmer Neal took 2nd in the boys’ pole vault.
The relay team of Hana Birney, Jhasmine Espinoza, Sophi Mairs, & Baylee Jones took 2nd in the girls’ 4 x 200.
The relay team of Remi McFarlane, Derek Dunham, Clayten Butler & Kaito Watson finished 2nd in the boys’ 4 x 100.
The relay team of James Snyder, Mark Olson, Christian Roberts-McRae, & Jerome Acosta, Jr placed 2nd in the boys’ 4 x 400
Natalie Wolf took 3rd in the girls’ 100 meters and 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles.
Mackenzie Lemley was 3rd in the girls’ 400 meters.
Christian Roberts-McRae placed 3rd in the boys’ 1600 meters.
CAmeron Revelez was 3rd in the boys’ triple jump.
Hana Birney placed 4th in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles and 4th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Jerome Acosta, Jr. finished 4th in the boys’ 110-meter hurdles and 4th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Dylen Shearer was 4th in the boys’ discus.
North Mason will compete in Dave Snyder’s Lil’ Norway meet at North Kitsap High School on Saturday.
