Gunnar Jensen and Daniel Crossan combined for the one-hitter each striking out six batters for the Highclimbers.
Offensively, Shelton had three hits: one each by Jacob Jacoby, Silas Hoff and Cam Winans. Winans batted in both ‘Climber runs.
Shelton is now 9-and-3 on the season, 4-and-3 in the Evergreen Conference. The Highclimbers host Tumwater Tuesday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton fastpitch softball team picked up their fifth win in a row Friday, knocking off Black Hills 13 to 5. The Highclimbers’ Emi McFarland hit two home runs and had four RBI. Hailey Schuffenhauer was 5 for 5 at the plate with two doubles and three runs batted in. Lexi Rowland had two RBI. Riley Rowland and Kaylee Rix batted in a run each.
Rix pitched seven innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
Shelton now has an 8-and-3 overall record, 4-and-2 in the Evergreen Conference. The Highclimbers host W.F. West Monday on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton boys’ soccer team beat Black Hills Friday 4 to 2. The Highclimbers’ first goal came early, in the 2nd minute. The ‘Climbers’ second goal was on a penalty kick in the 29th minute. Shelton’s third goal came in the 34 minute and gave the Highclimbers a 3-1 lead at the half. The ‘Climbers’ final goal was scored early in the second half – in the 48th minute. Shelton is now 2-6-and-1 on the season, 2-and-3 in the Evergreen Conference. The Highclimbers play at Tumwater Tuesday.
The North Mason fastpitch softball team lost to Kingston Friday 8 to 4. The Bulldogs’ Fiona Youngberg was 2 for 4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI. Sydnnie Imlay was also 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Taylor Madison was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. And Kaylani Ivie batted in a run.
Addyson Roy allowed eight runs (four earned on 12 hits with two walks and nine strikeout in seven innings for the girls from Belfair.
North Mason is 4-and-6 on the season, 1-and-4 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs host Cascade Christian on Monday.
The North Mason boys’ soccer team lost to Port Angeles Friday 5 to 1. The Bulldogs’ goal came in the 12th minute and was scored by Antonio Gaspar Gonzales. NM is now 2-and-7 on the season, 1-and-7 in the Olympic League. North Mason travels to Sequim Tuesday.
After the first day of the Chehalis Activator at W.F. West High School on Friday, the Mary M. Knight track and field teams have several athletes at the top of the invitational:
Andiana Ziegler topped the girls’ 800 meters.
Ryder Lake took 2nd in the boys’ 400 meters.
Gabe Walters was 3rd in the boys’ discus.
Logan Green placed 3rd in the boys’ javelin and was 6th in the long jump.
Natalie Hammel-North finished 4th in the girls’ javelin.
Bella Buck took 5th in the girls discus.
The meet continues Saturday.
