Wins for NM Softball & Baseball; Loss for SHS Softball; Tie for MMK Baseball

The North Mason fastpitch softball team swept two games in Sequim on Monday, winning 11 to 2 in the first game and 13 to 3 in the nightcap.
In the first game, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the third inning, four runs in the sixth, and two in the seventh, finishing with 11 hits. Fiona Youngberg and Sydnnie Imlay batted in three runs each with Faith Porter adding two RBI. And Taylor Madison and Addyson Roy batting in a run each. Roy pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
The second game went six innings with NM getting four runs in the first, eight in the second, and Imlay batting in a run in the bottom of the sixth to trigger the ten-run mercy rule. North Mason at 13 hits in the nightcap: Youngberg was 4 for 4 with two RBI; Imlay was 2 for 4 with three RBI. Faith Porter was 2 for 2, batting in three runs. Zoey Holdorf had two RBI. Madison, Roy and Cady Butler batted in a run each. Youngberg got the win in the pitching circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.
With the two-game sweep of the Wolves, North Mason is now 9-and-7 on the season, 5-and-5 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs host Olympic on Thursday.


The North Mason baseball team walked off with a nine-inning 7 to 6 win over Kingston Monday. The Bulldogs trailed the Buccaneers 3-0 until the sixth inning when NM scored two runs and tied the game in the bottom of the seventh.
After a scoreless eighth inning, Kingston scored three runs in the top of the nineth but North Mason scored four runs in the bottom of the nineth with two out: Reid Shumaker started the rally with a single to right field that scored Nolan Shumaker. Danner Jones was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Calvin Rice batted in two to tie the game 6-6. Jaxon Dowding then hit by a pitch to load the bases again. Dylan Prideaux then hit a line drive to left that batted in Jones for the winning run. Jones finished 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Rice was 2 for 5 and batted in two runs. Reid Shumaker, Prideaux, and Nolan Shumaker batted in a run each for the Bulldogs. NM improved to 7-and-7 overall, 4-and-6 in the Olympic League. North Mason hosts Bainbridge on Tuesday.


The Shelton fastpitch softball team lost to Black Hills Monday 8 to 7 on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Highclimbers rallied from a 5-2 deficit to take a 7-5 lead, scoring four runs in the top of the seventh. The Wolves were then able to load the bases with one out. One run scored on a passed ball while the others moved into scoring position. BH’s Haley McMahon then hit a line drive to center field that drove in the tying and winning runs.
Shelton was led in the loss by Riley Rowland who was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Cassandra Tyler was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Lexi Roland was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Hailey Schuffenhauer drove in a run. And Emi McFarland hit a double and batted in a run. The Highclimbers are now 8-and-7 on the season, 4-and-6 in the Evergreen Conference. The Lady-‘Climbers play at W.F. West on Wednesday.


The Mary M. Knight baseball team played Hoquaim JV to a 20 to 20 tie on Monday. Details on the game were not available. The Owls are now 0-8-and-1 on the season. MMK is set to host Elma JV on Wednesday.
