The Washington State Patrol is investigating a fatal head-on crash on U.S. Highway 101 that occurred Tuesday afternoon near the “C” Street Overpass in Shelton.

According to a press memo, the driver of a southbound pickup truck lost control and drove into oncoming traffic at milepost 346 where the truck struck a northbound sedan just before 3 PM. The truck came to rest in the southbound lane while the sedan ended up in lane one of two northbound lanes.

The driver of the sedan, a 32-year-old Tacoma man, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. This name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old man from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, was injured and transported to Mason General Hospital for treatment.

The memo says no drugs or alcohol were involved in this crash and the investigation is ongoing.
