The Washington State Patrol has released the name of the Tacoma man who died at the scene of a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 101 near the “C” Street Overpass in Shelton on Tuesday. An updated collision memo identifies the deceased as 36-year-old, Roswin N. Villegas Blanco.
Villegas Blanco was driving a sedan northbound on 101 just before 3 PM when the driver of a southbound pickup truck lost control, drove into oncoming traffic at milepost 346, and struck the sedan. The truck came to rest in the southbound lane while the sedan ended up in lane one of two northbound lanes.
The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old man from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, was transported to Mason General Hospital.
The updated memo still indicates drugs or alcohol were NOT involved in this crash. The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
