Shelton Invitational Track & Field Results; Win for NM Softball; Loss for NM Baseball

The 66th Annual Shelton Invitational Track and Field meet was held Saturday at Highclimber Stadium. Tumwater was the top boys’ team and took second place among girls’ teams. Bishop Blanchet was the top girls’ team while the boys’ were third. And the Olympia boys were second among boys’ teams and the Lady Bears’ team was third.


The North Mason track and field teams competed in the 66th Annual Shelton Invitational on Saturday with the Lady Bulldogs taking 8th in team scores while the boys from Belfair were 29th.
North Mason’s Top Finishers:
Brylie Biehl won the girls’ 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.55a, took 3rd in the 100-meters with a personal best 12.53a, and was 4th in the 200 meters with a personal best 26.46a.
The NM boys’ relay team of Remi McFarlane, Garrett Murphy, Jr., Clayten Butler, & Derek Dunham won the boys’ 4 x 200.
Baylee Jones finished 2nd in the girls’ javelin with a personal best distance of 99-05.
Palmer Neil took 5th in the boys’ pole vault with a personal best high of 12-00.00.
The girls’ relay team of Addisen Sheridan, Natalie Wolf, Melandra Steiger & Brylie Biehl placed 5th in the 4 x 100.
The girls’ relay team of Hana Birney, Jhasmine Espinoza, Melandra Steiger & Natalie Wolf finished 5th in the 4 x 200.


Top finisher for the Highclimbers in the Shelton Invitational was Claire Warnock who finished 2nd in both the girls’ 100-meter hurdles (with PB of 15.76a) and 300-meter hurdles (with a PB of 47.56a). As a team, the Lady-‘Climbers placed 27th.


The North Mason fastpitch softball team scored early and held off Orting on Saturday 9 to 5. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning after the Cardinals tied the game at 2-2. Orting added three runs in the third inning but couldn’t get any closer as NM pitcher Addyson Roy shut them down after that, going seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
At the plate, North Mason pounded out 14 hits with Taylor Madison going 3 for 4 with a home run and an RBI. Sydnnie Imlay was 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBI. Kennady Carson was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Fiona Youngberg batted in a run. Roy was 2 for 4 with an RBI. And Zoey Holdorf was 3 for 4.
The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 11-and-8. NM hosts Port Angeles on Tuesday.


The North Mason baseball team lost to Fife Saturday 7 to 2. The Bulldogs got their runs in the bottom of the third inning: Calvin Rice led off the inning with a solo home run and Nolan Shumaker scored on a wild pitch. NM had six hits in the loss with Kingston Serebryakov going 2 for 4. Along with Rice’s homer, Reid Shumaker, Nolan Shumaker, and Jaxon Dowding had hits. North Mason’s overall record is now 7-and-10. The Bulldogs travel to Olympic on Tuesday.
