Elections officials in the Mason County Auditor’s Office counted nearly 1600 additional ballots from last Tuesday’s Primary Election on Wednesday. No significant changes in the latest unofficial results with about 400 ballots remaining to be counted.
The top two candidates in the race for Mason County Commissioner District No. 3 are Democrat Miguel Gutierrez and Republican George Blush. The latest numbers show 39.48% (2,122 votes) for Gutierrez and 17.13% (921 votes) for Blush.
Others in the race: Daniel Cameron 13.71% (737 votes); Eric Onisko 13.45% (723 votes); Karen (Schade) Sullivan 7.07% (380 votes); Rick Lee with 4.76% (256 votes); and Lovejoy Schaefer 4.24% (228 votes).
There are also eight write-ins, seven overvotes (some one who voted for more than one candidate), and 94 undervotes (some one who didn’t vote for any of the seven candidates).
In the race for Mason County Auditor, Democrat Tamra “Tam” Ingwaldson will face Republican incumbent Steve Duenkel in the General Election. The latest results show 40.69% (7,903 votes) for Ingwaldson and 37.12% (7,209 votes) for Duenkel.
Others in the race: Republican Monika Balmer 14.64% (2,844 votes) and Vivian Glass (who states no party preference) has 7.51% (1,458 votes). There are also seven write-ins (0.04%), five overvotes, and 313 undervotes.
In the race for Mason County Clerk, Republican incumbent Charles Rhodes has 49.02% (7,780 votes) while Republican challenger Tammy Clark has 48.35% (7,674 votes). There are also 418 write-ins (2.63%), two overvotes, and 3,865 undervotes. Both candidates will appear on the November ballot.
Incumbent Democrat Brittany Pearson has 53.95% of the vote for Mason County Treasurer while Republican challenger Randy Lewis has 45.95%. Pearson now has 10,374 votes and Lewis now has 8,837 votes with 19 write-ins (0.1%), three overvotes, and 506 undervotes.
The latest results show Central Mason Fire & EMS’ levy is passing now with 63.77% Approval. That’s 4,645 voting “Yes” and 2,639 voting “No”.
The latest Mason County numbers for Mason County Fire District No. 12’s levy shows 73.16% approval. That’s 289 voting “Yes” and 106 voting “No”. When you add in the Grays Harbor County numbers (10 yes; 23 no), the approval rate is 69.86%.
North Mason Regional Fire Authority’s levy is still passing in Mason County now with 73.64% approval. That’s 2,567 voting “Yes” and 919 voting “No”. When you add Kitsap County’s latest numbers (74 yes; 35 no), the approval rate drops to 73.46%.
For 35th Legislative District State Senator, incumbent Republican Drew MacEwen sits at the top of the race with 51.09% (25,366 votes) while Democratic challenger Carolina Mejia has 48.79% (24,223 votes) with 63 write-ins (0.13%).
In the three-candidate race for 35th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 1, incumbent Republican Dan Griffey will face Democrat Jim Pierson in November. Griffey has 53.34% (26,372 votes). Pierson’s numbers are 28.03% (13,861 votes). The third candidate, Democrat Shaena Garberich, now has 18.56% (9,177 votes). There are 33 write-ins (0.07%).
The latest numbers show Incumbent Republican Travis Couture has 53.31% (26,360 votes) while Democrat Maria Littlesun has 46.58% (23,030 votes) for 35th Legislative District State Representative Position No. 2. There are 55 write-ins (0.11%).
No change for the 6th Congressional District U.S. Representative race, incumbent Democrat Emily Randall still tops the race now with 58.79% (132,216 votes). Republican Teresa Fox remains second now with 25.55% (57,473 votes). Randall and Fox will face off in the General Elections.
So far, Mason County Elections Officials have counted 19,739 ballots. There are 48,581 registered voters in Mason County. Turnout at this time is 40.63%. Next update is expected at 5:30 PM Thursday, August 13, 2026.
