A 20-year-old man drown in Lake Cushman Sunday afternoon. According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in to 9-1-1 at 4:49 PM. Caller stated that the man, Kyle Austin Pape from Fox Island, dove into Lake Cushman and did not surface. Members and swimmers in his group searched without success. Dive Rescue, a volunteer search & rescue group through Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Mason County Department of Emergency Management, responded and recovered Pape about 6:30 PM, almost two hours after he was last seen. Fire Rescue EMTs & Paramedics worked on Pape at the scene but he was pronounced dead just before 7 PM. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
