Owls Make All-Class Teams, Coach Honored; NM Baseball Wins, Softball Falls; SHS Soccer Wins, Alumni Game Scheduled, Baseball Comes Up Short;

Several Mary M. Knight basketball players were named to All-Class 1B independent teams while the Lady Owls’ coach, Lance Valley, was named Coach of the Year. The boys’ Coach of the Year was Oakville’s Cliff Harris formerly North Mason girls’ basketball coach. Making the first team were Miranda Sowle and Jaycee Valley. On the second team are Carlie Adsero and Ashley Kiliz. And earning honorable mentions were Kayla Kiliz, Lauren Dierkop and Austin Thompson (the only member of the MMK boys’ team to be named).

The North Mason baseball team shutout Bremerton 5 to 0. The Bulldogs’ Daniel Burggraaf went the distance, holding the Knights to three hits while striking out 9. On the offensive side, the boys from Belfair were led by Hunter Holman and Morgan Grewell, both going 1 for 3 at the plate with an RBI each. North Mason improved to 2-and-4 on the season, 1-and-2 in the Olympic League.

The North Mason fastpitch softball team was shutout by Bremerton 5 to 0. The Lady Bulldogs remain winless in four games.

The Shelton boys’ soccer team shutout Timberline three-nil (3-0). The Highclimbers to score goals were Fancisco Mendiola-Lopez, Jose Flores, and Christian Ziranda. Juan Apaez got the shutout with five saves.

Shelton boys’ soccer annual alumni game is set for Wednesday, April 9 at Highclimber Stadium. Two games are planned if there are enough alumni players: JV vs Alumni at 5 pm, Varsity vs Alumni at 7 pm. All former ‘Climber soccer players are invited to play. The Shelton baseball team lost a close one to Mount Tahoma 12 to 11. The Highclimbers built a 6-1 lead in the third inning and were up 9-3 after four before the T-birds started chipping away, scoring 3 runs in the fifth and 5 runs in the sixth to take the lead, adding an insurance run in the seventh which turned out to be the difference as Shelton came up a run short.
