The Mason County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 57-year-old Tahuya man after he shot a 31-year-old man Wednesday. A news release says that Deputies were notified of the shooting about 7 PM and it occurred between the 400 and 600 block of NE Dewatto Hills Road in Tahuya. According to victim and witness statements, the two men were involved in a disagreement over a vehicle which lasted from late afternoon through the evening. The suspect allegedly came onto the victim’s property, shot the victim’s vehicle, then shot the victim in the abdomen and walked away. The victim was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton where he was treated and released. Deputies searched for the suspect in the Tahuya area for two hours until he was apprehended without incident. Detectives served a search warrant on the suspect’s house and confiscated a small caliber handgun. The suspect was booked into the Mason County Jail on the charge of assault in the first degree. The victim is now back at his Tahuya home recovering from his injury.
