The Mason County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday afternon January 31st has been canceled due to a lack of a quorum. A new L-TAC meeting date will be announced when determined. The Committee will be reconsidering several applications including the management of General Tourism funds which Olympic Broadcasting has applied for $36,000 to manage the tourism budget of $95,000 while the Shelton Mason County Chamber of Commerce’s application for $95,000 includes a $10,000 management fee. The Committee will also be reconsidering applications from the Union Tourism Association for Union Traveler Days and the Union PumpkinFest; from the Hood Canal Highland Celtic Festival, and Anna’s Bay Center for Music. These applications were returned to the organizations for clarification. The final item on the L-TAC’s agenda is a new application from the Shelton-Mason County Journal for printing visitor guides and Oysterfest Programs. This meeting is open to the public but the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee only makes recommendations to the Mason County Commission, which has final say on how L-TAX funds are used.
