election 2016 cAfter three days of candidate filing for the 2016 election, there are now 67 candidates who have filed for 24 offices.

Locally, Union resident J. Michael Read has filed for Mason County PUD No. 1 Commissioner District 1.

In the 10th Congressional District, Jennifer “Gigi” Ferguson has filed as a Democrat joining Republican Jim Postma running for Denny Heck’s seat. The Democratic incumbent has yet to file.

The Lt. Governor race has garnered a lot of attention with nine candidates filing for Brad Owen’s seat. Those candidates are Mark Green (Citizens Party), Paul Addis (Libertarian), Cyrus Habib (Democrat), Karen Fraser (Democrat), Philip Yin (Repbulican), Steve Hobbs (Democrat), Javier H. Figueroa (Republican), Marty McClendon (Republican), and Bill Penor (Republican). Owen is not seeking re-election.

So far, four have filed to challenge Democratic Governor Jay Inslee. They are Bill Hirt (Republican), Patrick O’Rouke (Democrat), David W. Blomstgrom (Fifth Republic Party), and Mary Martin (Socialist Workers Party),

Democratic Senator Patty Murray is facing nine challengers: Sam Wright (The Human Rights Party), Mike Luke (Libertarian), Donna Rae Lands (Conservative Party), Chris Vance (Republican), Uncle Mover (Republican), Chuck Jackson (Independent), Philip L. Cornell (Democrat), Alexc Tsimerman (Standupamerica Party), and Ted Cummings (Independent).

Filing continues until the close of business Friday.
