The Mason County PUD No. 3 Board of Commissioners has extended its purchase agreement with the Mason County Senior Activities Association for the PUD Complex on Cota Street. The extension to October 31, 2012 gives the Association more time to complete its grant applications and finish fund raising. The Association wants to buy the complex and move its Senior Center from 8th and Railroad to Cota Street and create a one-stop-shop for all Senior Services.

The Association is applying for $1 Million from the Community Development Block Grant program through the City of Shelton and is in the middle of raising the necessary funds to renovate the PUD buildings. The PUD 3 Commissioners’ action came Tuesday morning after a presentation from some members of the Association during which they asked the Board for a letter of support to be included in their CDBG application. The group also asked for a support letter from the Mason County Commission.

Once the Association purchases and renovates the PUD buildings, and moves its Center, the plan is to move the Nifty Thrifty store from its current location on Olympic Highway North to the 8th and Railroad location.
