The Shelton boys’ basketball team opened the 2016-2017 season Thursday night with a 76 to 44 win over Elma on MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Highclimbers jumped on the Eagles early building an 11-point first quarter lead which they doubled in the second quarter and expanded to 30 in the third. But it wasn’t only the Shelton offense that shined as the ‘Climbers held Elma scoreless for nearly half the fourth quarter.
Marshall McCullough was on fire for Shelton hitting six three-pointers and finishing with 26 points. McCullough was one of four Highclimbers to score in double figures. Kyle Kimball added 13 points including two dunks in the fourth quarter. Tyler Giraldes and Jason Kenyon each scored 11 points. Noah Benson and Caeleb Hitsman each chipped in 5 points. Dylan Paul scored 4. And Kobe Bogh rounded out the scoring with 3.
Elma had three players score in double digits in the loss: Trace Thompson had 15; Sohtye Tep and Avery Brown each had 10.
Shelton hits the road for their next game traveling to Tenino on Monday.
