10-hilburnMason General Hospital & Family of Clinics (MGH&FC)  recently announced Scott Hilburn, chair of MGH&FC’s Hospital Board of Commissioners, was  appointed as a member of the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Committee on Governance.  Scott will participate in the development of policies to represent, guide and assist the nation’s hospitals.

In addition, the Committee is the primary vehicle for leading effective trustee involvement in grassroots advocacy, providing input into AHA policy development and enhancing communication with trustees in the AHA.  Scott’s term starts January 1, 2017 and will continue through December 31, 2019. 

“I am not surprised the AHA selected a member of our Board to serve at the national level,” said Eric Moll, CEO, MGH&FC. “Our team here at Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics is recognized by our State Hospital association as continuing to raise the bar on patient safety and patient quality initiatives.”

The American Hospital Association (AHA) was founded in 1898 and provides education for health care leaders and is a source of information on health care issues and trends. The AHA is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.  Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA. Through representation and advocacy activities, AHA ensures that members’ perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates, and judicial matters. AHA’s advocacy efforts include the legislative and executive branches and include the legislative and regulatory arenas.
