Mason County’s unemployment rate increased in December 2016 to 7.9%. That’s up a half percent from November’s revised rate of 7.4% but just under December 2015’s unemployment rate of 8%.
Among adjacent counties, Grays Harbor (8.8%) and Lewis (8.2%) also had a half percent increase. Pierce (6%) and Thurston (5.7%) showed an increase of two-tenths of a percent. The unemployment rate in Jefferson County increased one-tenth of a percent to 7.4%. And there was no change in the unemployment rate in Kitsap County (5.5%).
