The City of Shelton held a public meeting Monday on proposed updates to its Comprehensive Plan and possible expansion of the City’s Urban Growth Area (UGA).
Jason Dose, Senior Panner with the City’s Department of Community & Economic Development, and Eriks Rhett with BERK Consulting made a presentation explaining the process used to reach the conclusions in the update, described the two areas proposed to be added to the UGA, discussed the three alternatives that will go before the City Commissioners for approval, and talked about the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) associated with the proposal.
The two areas proposed to be added to the UGA are 600 acres on Dayton-Airport Road at the intersection with Eells Hill Road, known as DARCI, and 300 acres south of the Shelton Hills development, known as Goldsborough Heights. DARCI is being proposed by the City and would be developed for commercial activities such as tourism and hospitality, information technology, life sciences, food production, wood products, and industrial uses. Goldsborough Heights, proposed by Green Diamond Resources,is a residential area similar to what is already proposed in the Shelton Hills Master Plan and could include a golf course.

The City is seeking public comments on the DEIS until 5 PM March 6th. All written comments should be directed to:
