The Shelton Police Department has released the identity of the pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Olympic Highway North Wednesday and later died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

An updated news release identified the pedestrian as 63-year-old Brad Oling, a longtime, well known resident of Shelton. Mr. Oling’s family was notified of the incident on Thursday, January 4th. On Wednesday, January 3rd at approximately 6:00 PM, Shelton PD was dispatched to the 2100 block of Olympic Highway North regarding a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers found Oling in the street with major injuries. He was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as a 78-year-old Shelton man. Investigators have determined that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision. The driver was not speeding when the collision occurred. The preliminary investigation, including statements from multiple witnesses, revealed that Mr. Oling stepped into the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk and was struck by the oncoming vehicle.
