The Shelton City Commission unanimously approved the agreement with the Shelton School District for additional School Resource Officer through the end of the school year. The agreement approved Tuesday night has the School District reimbursing the City for overtime for officers covering Olympic Middle School and Mt. View Elementary, and CHOICE, Evergreen and Bordeaux.

Police Chief Darrin Moody told the Shelton City Commission a contract for the next two school years is being negotiated with the cost of those two officers being split between the School District and the City.

That contract is subject to School Board approval later this month and City Council approval in June.

Meanwhile, the Mason County Commission approved a supplemental budget appropriation Tuesday that included $80,000 for a full time School Resource Officer in the North Mason School District. This funding is coming from the North Mason School District and pays for the salary of the School Resource Deputy through June 2019.
