West Dayton Airport Road (State Route 102) north of Shelton is going to get a touch-up. The highway preservation work also helps prevent expensive repairs later.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will soon begin resurfacing the highway with a chip seal treatment extending between US 101 and the Washington Corrections Center. Preliminary work could begin as soon as the week following Memorial Day.

During construction, drivers can expect:

  • One-way alternating traffic with a pilot car or flaggers during daylight hours. Work will mostly occur Mondays through Fridays. Weekend work may also be scheduled.
  • A reduced speed limit to 35 mph in the work zone.
  • Depending on weather, work will continue through summer.

Drivers are advised to give themselves extra time to reach their destinations.
