The Shelton City Council selected Jeffrey A. Niten as City Manager. Niten’s first day in Shelton is January 14th. The unanimous selection came after two nationwide recruitment efforts led by Slavin Management Consultants in Atlanta, Georgia over the past eight months.

Niten began his career in municipal government as an intern with the Southern Nevada Water Authority while completing his university studies in political science and public policy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Following graduation, he worked as a professional planner for several years in Clark County, Nevada.

Originally from Alaska, Jeff has held various professional planning positions in Oregon and Washington over the last 15 years, most recently serving as Community Development Director for Ridgefield, Washington. His professional focus has been on economic development, land use, and team building. He also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Dakota.

Jeff has been married to his wife Rachel for 11 years, and has three children, Cory, Hunter, and Madison. When he’s not traveling the state to watch his children’s sporting events, Jeff enjoys golf, racquetball, motorcycling, and cheering on the Seahawks.

“The Council is thrilled that Jeff will be our new City Manager,” said Mayor Bob Rogers. “He brings a lot of great knowledge and experience to the table. Combined with his enthusiasm for Shelton, we are confident in his ability to continue moving our town in the right direction. The Council is looking forward to working with Jeff, and the community, to shape a great future for the City of Shelton.”
