The Shelton Police Department is investigating a reported shooting that injured one person Saturday morning. A news release says officers were dispatched to a home in the 2100 block of South 1st Street about 5:30 AM after multiple calls of gun-shots fired and sounds of people screaming.

Upon arrival, police found a 35-year-old Shelton man with an injury to his head. He was transported to the Mason General Hospital ER, with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

The victim stated that one of the suspects appeared to be a Pacific Islander male who fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

According to Captain Mike Fiola, at this time it is unknown the exact relationship between the suspect and the victim or motive for the assault but police are confident there is no imminent danger to the general public. The residence in question and parties involved are well known to law enforcement. Detectives will be executing a search warrant later today to look for further evidence.
