Mason County PUD No. 3 is moving into its new operations center on John’s Prairie. The utility’s Public Affairs Manager, Joel Myer, and Engineering Manager, Terry Peterson, took MasonWebTV.com on a tour of the PUD’s old warehouse and shop and the new facilities about to be occupied. The differences are quite eye opening as this video demonstrates.
The new facility has a number of innovative and environmentally friendly features such as a geothermal heat pump, low impact stormwater retention system, a system that collects building runoff and uses it for irrigation and for flushing toilets, and solar panels that add power generated by the facility back into the power grid. The PUD’s first day of business at the new operations center is April 2nd. A public open house will be scheduled for some time in May. The $34.5 Million will also house the PUD’s Administrative offices but the downtown customer service office will remain and the facility will have no impact on the PUD’s Belfair office.
