
Fire crews extinguished a structure fire Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of West Cota Street in Shelton that displaced six families.
Firefighters responded about 2 PM and upon arrival found the two-story six-plex with fire coming from the roof and exterior wall. The blaze was also threatening a neighboring structure.
Crews knocked down the fire quickly but not before it caused an estimated $80,000 damage to two apartments and the building’s roof.
No injuries were reported and the Red Cross is helping the displaced families.
The cause is under investigation.
Responding agencies included Central Mason Fire & EMS, Mason County Fire District 4, Mason County Fire District 11, Shelton Police and Mason PUD 3.
