A 57-year-old Poulsbo man faces DUI charges after his car struck a utility trailer on Highway 3 near Agate Road Saturday night.

The Washington State Patrol reports that a 2012 Toyota Camry was behind a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup towing a homemade utility trailer on SR-3 about 6:30 PM. At milepost 10 (just north of Agate Road), the truck slowed to make a left turn. The driver of the car fell asleep and the Toyota struck the left side of the trailer causing it to rollover. The truck and trailer came to rest on the southbound shoulder. The car ended up in the northbound lane.

Highway 3 was partially blocked for about four hours.

The 57-year-old Shelton man driving the Ford was injured and transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.

The driver of the Camry was not injured.

A press memo indicates drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

Both vehicles sustained “reportable” damage and were towed from the scene.
