The Shelton Police Department has arrested a 41-year-old Shelton man for making a bomb threat.

According to a news release, the man was arrested and booked into the Mason County Jail Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities believe the unidentified man called MACECOM (Mason County’s 911 center) at 9:40 AM August 29th and said a “bomb” had been “planted” at the Shelton Department of Corrections field office on North 4th Street. The building was evacuated and an explosive detecting K-9 was called to the scene. No explosives were found but the threat temporarily closed streets, closed the Department of Corrections office, and affected activities at the nearby Mason County Courthouse.

The news release states, “The motives (for the bomb threat) were personal and will not be released to the media.” The suspects name is not being released since he has not been formally charged by the Mason County Prosecutor.
