Mason County’s unemployment rate rose slightly in October. Washington State Employment Security says the County’s unemployment last month was 6.1 percent. That’s one-tenth of a percentage point from the revised rate for September of 6 percent. The rate is also four-tenths of a percent higher than October 2018’s rate of 5.6 percent.

Adjacent counties also saw slight increases in employment last month. Jefferson (5.6%) and Kitsap (4.5%) counties also saw increases of one-tenth of a percent. Pierce (5.1%) and Thurston (4.8%) had increased of two-tenths in October. And Grays Harbor (6.8%) and Lewis (6%) counties had increases of three-tenths of a percent.
