Two Belfair residents died in a head-on crash on Belfair Tahuya Road Saturday afternoon and driver of the causing vehicle faces two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2013 Ford F-350 was westbound on Belfair Tahuya Road about 4:45 PM. Near NE View Ridge Drive W, the F-350 crossed the center line and hit an eastbound 1998 Ford Ranger head-on.

Two of the four people in the Ranger died at the scene: 43-year-old Francisca Tercero-Zacarias and an 15-year-old male.

The other two in the Ranger were seriously injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle: the driver, a 17-year-old Belfair male, and Josefa T. Zazavias, 20 of Belfair.

The driver of the F-350, identified as Eric E. Leer, 51 of Belfair, was not injured but was reportedly taken into custody at the scene as a press memo indicates drugs or alcohol were involved in the fatal crash.

Belfair Tahuya Road was closed for more than seven hours while Troopers investigated.
