A temporary county-wide outdoor burn ban will begin just after midnight Saturday. According to a news release, these burn restrictions go into effect at 12:01 AM June 26 and will be in effect until further notice.

The Mason County Community Development Director, as acting Fire Marshal, and in partnership with the Mason County Fire Chiefs’Association, has determined that current weather conditions within Mason County have created substantial fire dangers and that there is a need to enact restriction on outdoor burning to all lands regulated by Mason County. This burn restriction applies to OUTDOOR BURNING, including land clearing,yard debris, and permit burns; and does NOT include prohibition of attended recreational fires,charcoal briquette barbeques.The use of gas and propane barbeques will continue to be allowed under the restriction.

*Lands protected by Department of Natural Resources(DNR) may have different restrictions. As of 0001, 6/25/21 and until further notice,there will be a RULE BURN BAN due to current fuel conditions and forecasted fire weather event.A rule burn is”Afire that does not require a written permit has established size limitations based on time of year and the county within which the burning occurs. From October 16 through June 30 individual pile size in Thurston County shall be limited to ten feet; pile size is limited to four feet in King, Kitsap, Mason, and Pierce.
