Travis Couture

Republican Travis Couture, a US Navy Submarine Veteran and former elected Chairman of the Mason County Republican Party, has formally announced his candidacy for the State House of Representatives in the 35th Legislative District in Position 2. Position 2 (currently held by Drew MacEwen) will be an open seat in the 2022 election.

Mr. Couture recently spoke at the Candidates in the Park hosted by the Mason County Republican Women’s Club.

“I am excited to hit the ground running and have a conversation with voters in the 35th District,” Couture said. “Being out in the community, listening to people’s concerns and helping to craft solutions to problems invigorates me. There are a lot of difficult challenges we face in this State, and I am ready to greet those challenges head-on to fight for our district, its values and your rights.”

With over a decade of political and community involvement in the 35th District, Couture has positioned himself as a trusted leader and critical voice in local politics, a champion of constitutional rights and common sense solutions. The theme of his campaign is “Principle Before Party, People Before Politics.”

“Now more than ever the call to serve reaches my heart because of policies coming out of Olympia that threaten our economic prosperity, our kids’ education and our safety,” said Couture. “I’ve spent my adult life in service to my country, and would be humbled to continue that lifelong commitment by representing the people of the 35th as State Representative.”

Couture served aboard Ballistic Missile submarines USS Alabama and USS Nebraska. Following his naval career, he began working for the world’s largest defense contractor at Naval Base Kitsap in Silverdale, assisting the US Navy and Marine Corps with protecting the Nation. He presently is a senior employee with the company, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership. Couture plays hockey at the Bremerton Ice Center, and enjoys target shooting, swimming and hiking. He lives with his family in Allyn, where he is active in his four kids’ schools and activities.
