Mason County Public Health reported another death and 24 new cases of COVID-19 in the County on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. The death of a woman in her 80’s increased the number of Mason County residents to die from coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic to 59. The report also says six Mason County resident remain hospitalized due to COVID-19 (one out of county). With 476 cases in the last 14 days, Mason County’s rate of new COVID-19 per 100,000 of population over two weeks is now 733, up from Monday’s rate of 719. According to health officials, an update on the County’s vaccination rate was not available but was 51.3 percent on Monday. Mason County has a population of 64,980.
