The Shelton boys’ basketball team knocked off W.F. West Thursday 59 to 38. (Click here to watch the game.)

The Highclimbers jumped out to an early six-point lead in the first quarter which turned into a 15-point cushion in the second. Shelton pulled away in the third quarter and W.F. West wasn’t able to put together a consistent rally.
The Highclimbers had three players score in double figures led by Charles “Chuckie” Thompson’s 20 points – hitting 3 three-pointers and going 5 for 6 at the free throw line. Tyler Ireland added 15 points and 8 rebounds. And Mason Goos scored 15 points in his first start of the season.
The Bearcats were led in the loss by Dirk Plakinger who had 14 points.
Shelton evened its record at 5-and-5 overall, 3-and-3 in the Evergreen Conference. W.F. West dropped to 5-and-4 on the season, 3-and-2 in EvCo play.
The Bearcats’ next game is Wednesday against Aberdeen. The Highclimbers host Black Hills on Wednesday and MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will be on hand for that game.
Wednesday, the Shelton girls’ basketball team lost at Tumwater 76 to 18. The Thunderbirds had four players score over 10 points each while holding the Highclimbers to only two points in the second half. Ana Pinon hit three three-pointers in the first half to finish with 9 points to lead Shelton in the loss. The Lady Highclimbers are winless in nine games this season. They host Evergreen Conference’s second place team, W.F. West, on Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will be on hand for that game.
