Results: NM baseball; SHS softball; Shelton Invite & Rugby Double Header Sat.

 

The North Mason baseball team ended a six-game losing skid Friday, upsetting Sequim 9 to 7. The Bulldogs and the Wolves went back and forth until Andrew Burggraaf drove in what turned out to be the winning runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-run pinch-hit double the boys from Belfair. North Mason’s Daniel Burggraaf also batted in two runs while Hunter Hohmann 3 for 3 at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored, and Riley McKean was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and a run scored. The Bulldogs improved to 3-and-11 on the season. They host Klahowya Monday.

 

The Shelton fastpitch softball team couldn’t overcome Curtis’ four-run fifth inning and lost 9 to 6 Friday. The Highclimbers were led in the loss by Kelsey Albaugh and Brynnen Beierle who each had two hits and scored two runs. Shelton drops to 2-and-12 on the season. The Lady-‘Climbers travel to Gig Harbor Monday.

 

A reminder: The 52nd Shelton Track and Field Invitational is today (Saturday, April 28) at Highclimber Stadium. Some 60 teams will be competing in 16 events beginning at 1 PM.

 

Also, the Shelton rugby teams have matches today (Saturday, April 28) at Oakland Bay Junior High School. The boys face Kitsap in a league match at 1 PM. The girls have a non-league or “friendly” match against Shawnigan Lake School, a boarding school from Vancouver Island, BC, at 3 PM. The girls play again on Sunday against Kent, the No. 4 team in the Nation, at 1 PM.
