[VIDEO] The Port of Shelton won an award for the resurfacing of the runway at Sanderson Field in 2020. The project to mill and overlay the runway was completed by Lakeside Industries and won the First Place Quality Award for Excellence in Airport Paving from the Washington Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA).

The award was presented to Lakeside Industries during WAPA’s annual meeting in November of last year and it was dropped off at the Port of Shelton last week. Executive Director Wendy Smith showed the Port of Shelton Commissioners the award during a special meeting Monday.

Action during the meeting was a consent to a sublease agreement with Mayflower Partners, LLC, and a new 20-year land lease with Joel M. Manke and Joel A. Manke which allows the father and son to build a private hangar on just over half an acre of Port land. That lease did prompt a short discussion on future hangars at Sanderson Field.

The Port of Shelton Commission usually meets at 2 PM the first and third Tuesday of each month.
