Mason County’s unemployment rate saw a slight increase in December. Washington State Employment Security says the County’s unemployment rate last month was 6.4%. That is up two-tenths on the percentage point from the revised rate for November of 6.2% and up nine-tenths of a percent from December 2021’s rate of 5.5%.

Looking at adjacent counties, Pierce (5.3%) and Thurston (4.7%) also saw increases of two-tenths of a percent from November to December. Kitsap County’s unemployment rate last month remained at 4.3%. Jefferson County (4.3%) saw its unemployment rate go down by a tenth of a percent. And the largest increase was in Grays Harbor County where the unemployment rate went from 7.2% in November to 7.6% in December.
