High School Sports Results from 3/17/23

Losses for SHS Softball & Soccer

The Shelton fastpitch softball team couldn’t catch Elma Friday as the Eagles beat the Highclimbers 9 to 5. (Click here to watch MasonWebTV Powered by HCC’s broadcast of the game.)

Elma scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Shelton responded with one run in the bottom of the first. The Eagles added two more in the second which the Highclimbers matched. The scored remained 7 to 2 until the fifth inning when Ally Baumgart led off with a solo home run (her second of the season). Elma scored two in the sixth while Shelton only managed one.

The Highclimbers were led in the loss by Hailey Schuffenhauer who was 2 for 2 at the plate, with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored. Danyka Squire batted in two runs. Saddie Mackiewicz was 3 for 5 with a triple.

Shelton dropped to 1-and-3 on the season. They travel to Hoquiam Monday.

The Shelton boys’ soccer team lost at Bremerton 4 to 1. The Highclimbers’ David Dicky found the net late in the game (in the 70th minute). Shelton holds its home opener Monday against Centralia.
