A 27-year-old Shelton man died at the scene of a three-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 just north of the interchange with State Route 3 Wednesday evening.

The Washington State Patrol says a southbound car struck the rear of an SUV which was also southbound. The car then crossed into on-coming traffic and struck the front of a northbound car. The southbound car came to rest in the northbound lane. The SUV ended up on the southbound shoulder. And the northbound car was on the northbound shoulder. This collision occurred about 6:20 PM.
The driver of the southbound car, identified as Aparicio Mendoza Matias, 27 of Shelton, was deceased at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old Shelton woman, was transported by aid car to Capitol Medical Center in Olympia.
The driver of the northbound car, a 64-year-old Shelton woman, was taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
And a passenger in the southbound car, a 19-year-old Shelton man, was not injured.
A press memo indicates that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
