Fatal Crash on Highway 3 near Grapeview Loop

A Tacoma man died in a single vehicle crash on State Route 3 just north of the south end of Grapeview Loop Road Thursday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol reports the car was northbound about 3:30 PM. At milepost 15, the sedan left the roadway to the left, crossed into on-coming traffic, struck a tree and some debris, and caught fire before coming to rest in the southbound ditch.

The State Patrol said on Twitter that the driver was driving erratically before the crash.

He was prounounced deceased at the scene of the crash. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
