Mason PUD 3 received its 44th consecutive clean report from the Washington State Auditor’s Office on the PUD’s financial management, operations, and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Last year’s financial reporting also received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 18th consecutive year.
“The audit and the award show our dedication to our mission to provide safe, reliable, economical and sustainable service every day,” said Annette Creekpaum, PUD 3 manager. “Our employees not only follow the high standards required by the state, but also produce high quality reports that are recognized at the national level.”
The Washington State Auditor’s office focused on financial, federal and accountability audits in its recent review of Mason PUD 3. Financial audits ensure the PUD accounts for public funds. Federal audits ensure internal controls over grant funds are sufficient and grant funds are used in compliance with the terms of the federal grant program. Accountability audits certify that units of state and local government adhere to required laws and regulations relating to financial matters such as bidding and contracts.
