Mason County’s unemployment rate increased in October. According to preliminary numbers from the Washington Employment Security, the County’s unemployment rate last month was 4.9%. That’s up a half percentage point from September’s revised rate of 4.4% but down from October 2022’s rate of 6.1%.

Adjacent counties also saw increases from September to October. Grays Harbor (5.7%) and Jefferson (4.9%) counties saw their unemployment rates go up eight-tenths of a percent. Kitsap (4%) and Pierce (4.4%) had increases of a half percent. And Thurston County’s unemployment rate went up four-tenths of a percent to 3.8%.
