Filing for this fall’s election continued Wednesday.

During the three days of candidate filing, Tom Beben and Richard Beckman entered the race for Mason County Commissioner District No. 2 – the seat currently held by Kevin Shutty who is NOT running for re-election. Beben states no party preference while Beckman filed as a Republican.

On Monday, Republican William “Will” Harris filed for Mason County Commissioner District 1 – the seat currently held by Randy Neatherlin. Wednesday, Ted Jackson entered the race for Neatherlin’s seat. Jackson, also a Republican, faced the incumbent four years ago. Neatherlin has not yet stated whether he will file for another term, which would be his fourth term.

All three Mason County Superior Court Judge positions are up for re-election.
David Stevens, who won the Judge Position 1 last fall, filed to remain on the bench Monday.
Monty D. Cobb, incumbent for Judge Position 2, also filed to remain on the bench Monday.
The first day of filing also saw Tirsa Butler filed for Mason County Superior Court Judge Position 3 – the position currently held by Daniel Goodell.

The incumbents for Mason County PUD No. 1 and Mason County PUD 3 commissions filed to remain on their positions. Johnny “Jack” Janda file for PUD 1 District 3 seat while Jeff McHargue filed for PUD 3 District 3 seat.

In the 35th Legislative District, incumbent Republican Dan Griffey filed to retain his State Representative Position 1 seat.
The State Representative Position 2 seat has drawn incumbent Republican Travis Couture and Democrat James DeHart.

Republican Drew MacEwen and Democrat Hilary Franz filed for 6th District Congressman – the seat currently held by Derek Kilmer who is not seeking re-election.

In statewide races, six have filed for U.S. Senator (the seat currently held by Maria Cantwell), 17 filed for Governor, six filed for Insurance Commissioner, five filed for Lt. Governor, five filed for Commissioner of Public Lands (the position held by Hilary Franz who is running for congress), and three filed for Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Candidate filing week continues until 5 PM Friday, May 10th.
