Crews get as much work done as possible during short season for fish barrier removal work

State Route 108 near Kamilche has temporarily reopened to travelers.

The highway will be open for several days before the final around-the-clock closure. This closure is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 14 and will last approximately two weeks.

8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 – 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28:

  • SR 108 between West Hurley Waldrip Road and Eich Road
  • There is no travel through the work zone.
  • Travelers will detour using US 101 and SR 8 in Thurston County. Shaker Church Road Northwest in Thurston County is limited to local traffic only.

The work is related to a fish barrier removal project.

The Washington State Department of Transportation appreciates travelers and understanding during these closures.

Crews this summer are working to remove three barriers to fish under the highway. WSDOT is under a federal court injunction to remove barriers to fish by 2030.
