With about 1,000 ballots still to be counted in Mason County (nearly 340,000 statewide), the results from Tuesday’s General Election in the county are not expected to change.
Incumbent Randy Neatherlin is keeping his Mason County Commission District 1 seat. The latest numbers as of 4 PM Friday have Neatherlin with 55.07% (17,889 votes) to William “Will” Harris’ 44.32% (14,397 votes) with 196 write-in votes (0.6%).
Pat Tarzwell will be taking Kevin Shutty’s Mason County Commissioner District 2 seat. (Shutty did not seek re-election), The last results show Tarzwell with 52.49% (16,733 votes) to Tom Beben’s 47.14% (15,028 votes) with 116 write-ins (0.36%).
Mason County Election officials will be counting additional ballots Tuesday.
The latest results for the 35th Legislative District Races:
Incumbent Republican Travis Couture continues to lead Democrat James DeHart for State Representative Position 2. Couture now has 58.44% to DeHart’s 41.47%.
Dan Griffey ran unopposed for State Representative Position 1.
For 6th Congressional District U.S. Representative (the seat currently held by Derek Kilmer who did not seek re-election), Democrat Emily Randall appears to be headed to Congress with 56.74% of the votes to her Republican challengers Drew MacEwen’s 43.13%.

For U.S. Senator, incumbent Democrat Maria Cantwell is returning to Washington, D.C. taking 59.47% of the vote to Republican Dr. Raul Garcia’s 40.26%.
The next Governor of the State of Washington is Bob Ferguson with 55.88% to Dave Reichert’s 43.9%.
Denny Heck will remain Lt. Governor with 56.14% to Dan Matthews’ 43.73%.
In the race for Secretary of State, Steve Hobbs 59.56% to Dale Whitakers’ 40.33%.
Mike Pellicciotti will remain State Treasurer getting 57.64% to Sharon Hanek’s 42.26%.
Pat McCarthy will remain State Auditor getting 58.37% to Matt Hawkins’ 41.49%.
The next Attorney General appears to be Nick Brown who received 55.89% to Pete Serrano’s 44.01%.
Dave Upthegrove appears to be the next Commissioner of Public Lands with 52.88% to Jaime Herrera Beutler’s 46.80%.
In the Superintendent of Public Instruction race, Chris Reykdal is returning to the seat with 53.11% of the vote to David Olson’s 46.29%.
The next Insurance Commissioner appears to be Patty Kuderer who got 56.97% to Phil Fortunato’s 42.91%.
Initiative 2066 now has 51.33% approval.
Initiative 2109 is failing with 63.91% voting against the measure.
Initiative 2117 is failing with 61.98% voting “No”.
Initiative 2124 is failing now with 55.36% voting against
The race for Supreme Court Justice Position No. 2 is still tight. Sal Mungia now has 50.07% to Dave Larson’s 49.4% with write-ins accounting for 0.52%.
