The Washington State House of Representatives passed House Bill 1759 Monday designating Dec. 12th as “Day of the 12s”.

As the official name for Seahawks fans, the 12’s are widely recognized as one of the most devoted fanbases in the NFL. Known for their record-breaking stadium noise and unwavering support, they represent a unifying force across Washington.

Rep. Sharlett Mena (D-Tacoma), who introduced the bill, shared her motivations for the bill saying, “more than the thunder they provide on the field, the 12s have helped build bonds that bind the Washington community.”

Mena added, “it’s important—especially when entire communities feel rejected and dejected—that we celebrate spaces where all are welcome, joy is encouraged, and the common cause surpasses all else.”

Blitz, the Seahawks mascot expressed his reasons for supporting the bill, sharing “screeee!”

HB 1759 was considered by the House in honor of legislative children’s day. It now heads to the Senate for further consideration as a day to celebrate the dedication, loyalty and impact of the 12s on Washington’s culture and identity.
