Boston Stanley led NM at the plate in the loss going 3 for 4, with a double and a solo home run. Calvin Rice was also 3 for 4 at the plate with a double. And Danner Jones was 2 for 4 with a double. Stanley, Reid Shumaker and Kingston Serebryakov batted in a run each.
Chase Beninger led Olympic on the mound and at the plate, picking up the win allowing two earned runs on 10 hits with one walk and five strike outs in six innings. At the plate, Beninger was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.
The loss drops North Mason to 9-and-9 on the season, 5-and-8 in the Olympic League. The Bulldogs are now in sixth place in the standings while the Trojans and Sequim are now tied for fourth and fifth place with one game remaining.
North Mason plays at Olympic today (Wed. May 7th) while the Wolves host Bremerton.
The Shelton baseball team lost at Black Hills Tuesday 3 to 2. The Wolves took advantage of five Highclimber errors and scored what turned out to be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Carl Turnbow led the ‘Climbers at the plate in the loss going 2 for 4. Jacob Jacoby and Zane Scott batted in Shelton’s runs. The Highclimbers drop to 8-and-11 overall, 7-and-7 in the Evergreen Conference – the same EVCO record as Aberdeen. However, the ‘Climbers took the three-game series with the Bobcats. Shelton wraps up the regular season Thursday at Tumwater while Aberdeen hosts at W.F. West. The outcome of these games will decide whether the Highclimbers make the postseason. Worst case scenario: the Bobcats beat the Bearcats and the ‘Climbers fall at the T-Birds which would knock Shelton out of the playoffs.
The Mary M. Knight track and field teams competed in a six-team meet at North Beach Tuesday. In the team scoring, the Lady Owls finished third while the boys from Matlock were sixth.
