Two people from Belfair suffered injuries from a three-vehicle crash on State Route 3 at Lake Flora Road Thursday.

The Washington State Patrol says just before 5 PM, an SUV traveling southbound on Highway 3 failed to stop for traffic just south of Lake Flora Road and struck another southbound SUV which in turn struck a southbound pickup truck. The second SUV continued into the southbound embankment and struck a tree. The first SUV and the pickup came to rest blocking southbound SR-3.

The driver of the first SUV, a 42-year-old Belfair man, and the driver of the second SUV, a 36-year-old Belfair woman, were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 24-year-old Auburn man, was not injured.

A press memo indicates that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, and lists “following too close” as the cause.

The 42-year-old Belfair man faces charges including DUI.
