
Mason County’s unemployment rate drop last month. Washington State Employment Security reported that the preliminary unemployment rate for April is 4.6% which is down six-tenths of a percentage point from March’s revised rate of 5.2.% and down a half percent from April 2024’s rate of 5.1%.
Adjacent counties also saw drops in unemployment in April. The largest decrease was nine-tenths of a percent in Jefferson County (4.4%). Grays Harbor County saw a drop of eight-tenths to 5.3%. Thurston County’s 3.7% was a half percent down from March. Kitsap County (3.7%) saw a four-tenths dip. And Pierce County (4.6%) had the smallest drop: two-tenths of a percent.
