[VIDEO] The Mason County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the former administration for Mason County Fire District No. 12 has been forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Mason County Chief Criminal Deputy Jeff Rhoades updated the current Commissioners for the Matlock area fire department Wednesday night:
According to Rhoades, the Sheriff’s Office is recommending charging former Fire Chief Kelli Walsworth with Leading Organized Crime, Theft in the First Degree, Forgery, and Trafficking in Stolen Property.
No word yet on whether formal charges will be filed.

Mason County Assessor Patti McLean also updated the community on property taxes if the District’s proposed Property Tax Levy Lid Lift is approved by voters in August. The Fire District’s current rate per thousand of assessed value is 90 cents. The measure is asking voters to increase that amount to $1.50 per thousand.
