A motorcyclist from Grapeview faces charges after a crash in Tacoma Tuesday night injured the two people on the bike.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the motorcycle was southbound on I-705 entering the ramp to northbound I-5 just before midnight. The bike left the roadway to the left and struck a barrier. The motorcycle came to rest in lane one of two. The highway was blocked for three and a half hours.

The 42-year-old Grapeview man who was driving the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and injured. He was transported to Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma.
A 55-year-old Tacoma woman was a passenger on the motorcycle was also injured. She was wearing a helmet and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma.

A press memo indicates that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Although the cause in under investigation, the Grapeview man faces charges of Vehicular Assault.
